Employer: Plane Saver Credit Union
Plane Saver is a Credit Union with more than 27,000 members and partners with employers like British Airways and the Ministry of Defence.
They wanted to equip their member-facing team with the knowledge and confidence to support people experiencing money worries, without stepping into the territory of financial advice.
Rachel Downing, Head of Business Development & Marketing, says:
“We’re not financial advisors, so in the past, responding to members’ money worries wasn’t always easy. Now, when a member needs support, our team can confidently give them a next step. That’s huge for us.”
The team completed Money First Aider® training to strengthen their financial wellbeing offer and respond to the growing number of support enquiries linked to the cost of living.
“It fits perfectly alongside our wellbeing strategy. Financial wellbeing is a big part of what we do here, and this training gave our staff the confidence to start conversations that can make a real difference.”
The training was described as “engaging, practical, and easy to follow,” with staff continuing to revisit the materials to refresh their knowledge. Since completing the course, Plane Saver has noticed a real shift in how confidently team members handle sensitive money conversations, and how openly members respond in return.
“Our team feels more confident tackling difficult conversations, and members are opening up more because we’re approaching the topic in the right way.”
Rachel adds that working with the Money First Aid team was “a great experience” and encourages other employers to get involved:
“With the cost of living crisis in the UK, the need for financial wellbeing support is bigger than ever. It’s just one course, but it gives your team the confidence to have the conversations that could really make a difference.”
