Financial Coach: Stewart

We interviewed Stewart, founder of The Money Mate, on his experience of our Financial Coach course and his journey into financial coaching so far.

What made you decide to train as a financial coach?

I see daily how much stress and uncertainty money can create for people, regardless of income level. I wanted to be able to support people in a practical, non-judgmental way and help them feel more in control of their financial lives. I’ve always been passionate about financial products and wellbeing, so becoming a financial coach felt like the natural next step.

How was the training experience for you? What was the most valuable thing you learned or experienced during the course?

It was really insightful. I was always confident in the technical aspects, but the training gave me a much deeper understanding of the emotional and behavioural side of money. One of the most valuable things I learned was how important listening is — helping people uncover their own patterns, beliefs, and goals around money.

How has completing the training changed the way you think or talk about money, personally or professionally?

It helped me see money in a more balanced and compassionate way. I now approach conversations about money with more empathy and curiosity. I understand that financial decisions are often deeply connected to emotions and experiences, and that awareness changes the quality of the conversation.

How do you plan to take your financial coaching skills into the world now?

I would love to use my coaching skills to help people build healthier relationships with money and create more clarity and confidence around their finances. I want to create a supportive environment where people feel safe discussing money openly and without shame.

If somebody is looking for a financial coach, how can people find you?

You can send an email to: info@themoneymate.co.uk, or visit my website where you can find out more about me and book a free discovery call - https://www.themoneymate.co.uk/.

I’m currently building my coaching presence and look forward to connecting with people who are ready to improve their financial wellbeing.

Is there anything else you want to share?

I believe financial coaching is about much more than budgeting or saving money — it’s about helping people feel empowered, informed, and confident in their choices. Everyone deserves a healthy relationship with money, and I’m excited to be starting this journey and supporting others along the way.
